We are surrounded by toxins–especially in our homes. Building materials and furniture include glues, phthalates, and other chemicals that may contribute to declines in healthy living. But awareness is building, and one of its proponents is Brooklyn-based furniture company ALS Designs.

Founded by Andrea Summerton, a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), ALS Designs believes in “providing ‘healthy’ furniture.” She’s not just talking about sustainable materials, though that too is important to her designs.
