Divine De-vine by Brentano Fabrics
Prior to their release, two new patterns by Brentano Fabrics won awards in the 13th Annual IIDA/HD Product Design Competition. De-vine, an embroidered faux leather, and Rendezvous, a lustrous drapery fabric, are two examples of Brentano Fabrics’ fall 2009 Haven Collection, which “combines traditional elements like rich textures, understated elegance, and a soft hand with exciting details, current colors, and wearability.” De-vine features a large-scale repeat of sinuous, leafy embroidery on durable faux leather.

With bright colors like English Rose and Morning Glory, De-vine makes a great accent fabric to be paired with its solid counterpart Ooh La La. Another award winner from the Haven Collection, Rendezvous combines “two layers of luminous fabric” in “a drapery constructed by laser-cutting a layer of stylish sails to create beautiful depth and luster.” The sexy Rendezvous continues its shimmering sensuality with its rich colors, each recalling a location where illicit romances might take place: Roman Holiday, California Dreamin’, and Paris after Dark. From the diaphanous lightness of Roman Holiday (dare I liken it to beige?) to the moody smokiness of Paris after Dark (a velvety charcoal), Rendezvous grants any room a certain provocative je-ne-sais-quoi. Like a secret affair, Rendezvous “appears delicate but is durable”–proving that love indeed conquers all.

Brentano Fabrics was founded in 1990 by Design Director Iris Wang and her husband and President E-Kwan Chen. Since its founding with only eight patterns to its current incarnation, Brentano “has grown … into an internationally represented textile house.” Based on a simple yet keen philosophy–Wang’s belief in “balancing beauty + performance”–Brentano Fabrics meets the needs of residential, commercial, and hospitality industries. “Turn an interior into a haven” with the company’s newest collection!
