Swedish design studio Front is once again getting us to reimagine what constitutes a lighting object with its new Surface Tension Lamp.

Transforming the brief but resplendent life of a bubble into a constantly shifting shade, Surface Tension Lamp extends that awesome moment of iridescent globosity.

Surface Tension Lamp captures the transient bubble and combines it with an LED light source lasting up to 50,000 hours: "In the time it takes the LED to burn out, the lamp will have had 3 million different globe shades," explains Front.

Designed in collaboration with Loligo, Surface Tension Lamp turns the lamp into something ever-changing and yet perpetually pendant, transforming an everyday object into a wondrous spectacle.
