The popularity of Kona stems from its configurability. The system offers seats, arms, and backs that can be arranged in many ways to create straight and curved sofas.

Created by the Hightower Design Team, Kona Modular is “like individual islands composing a chain.” This explains its name, which is Hawaiian for leeward.

Hightower offers multiple configurations on its website—and each makes Kona look quite different. Configuration A has no arms or backs and looks very streamlined. I think Configuration B makes the sofa resemble a grouping of stone plinths (perfect for The Flintstones). And Configuration C features the corner piece with a gentle curved back that nestles users in a cozy corner.
