Contemporary Cones: Lighting Trend

We highlight five different contemporary takes on the classic cone-shaped lamp.

Cone-lights by Studio-Vit

Handmade in London, the ‘Cone’ lights by London-based Swedish designers Studio Vit are a series of lighting designs that combine the cone and the sphere in various different ways. With spheres in handblown glass and cones in matt white or mirror polished metal, the lights are available in ceiling, floor or wall-mounted versions.

Annular pendant lamps by MSDS Studio

The ‘Annular’ pendant lamps by Toronto designers MSDS Studio sandwich a ring-shaped LED and lens between two stacked metal cones.

Extra-Large-Pendants-by-Wastberg-and-Claesson-Koivisto-Rune

Claesson Koivisto Rune have created a set of three oversized, cone-shaped pendant shades for Swedish lighting brand Wästberg. Called ‘W151’, the giant spun aluminum shades measure over a meter tall or a meter wide.

Pendant Light by Daniel Emma

Turned from a solid block of pine, the surprisingly heavy Pendant Lamp by Australian studio Daniel Emma is lit by a LED bi-pin.

Torch by Sylvain Willenz for Established and Sons

With its cone-shaped, PVC-dipped polymer shade and textured polycarbonate diffuser, the Torch pendant by Belgian designer Sylvain Willenz for Established & Sons nods to the design of the typical torch and the car headlight.
