Lighting brand Foscarini is starting the summer off right with a special edition release of Marc Sadler's iconic Twiggy Floor Lamp. Continuing the monochromatic theme of the original piece (2006), Twiggy limited edition expounds on the premise by adding seven new festive colors.
The Twiggy Floor Lamp is Playful and Elegant
I wonder if readers will recall the original Twiggy, which was, incidentally, not designer Marc Sadler's iconic Floor Lamp but actually one Lesley Lawson, an international model and fashion icon of the 1960s whose lithe physique earned her the moniker. Doubtless Sadler's equally thin and, dare I say, equally alluring floor lamp is paying homage.
Just like the real-life Twiggy, Sadler's clever lamp is whimsical and intriguing. The piece uses a counter-weight principal to balance the shade with but the merest support of its ultra-thin disc-shaped base. A long, lithe, and lovely stem connects the two, as it establishes the central feature: resembling an elongated tree branch, the stem gives the piece its character while likewise explaining the name.
New colors for the limited edition Twiggy include light blue, green, orange, yellow, red, purple, and petrol. Users may choose between LEDs, traditional incandescent, and halogen formats.
