The Vieques rugs are made from an innovative and exclusive fabric a honeycomb structure called Nido d’Ape.

The fabric is the result of over two years of research by Kettal’s design team in collaboration with Patricia Uruiola. The eureka moment came when they examined the organic material used to make coffee filters under a microscope. The reproduced the structure on a large scale to produce Nido d’Ape; a three-dimensional braided PVC fabric with exceptional technical characteristics for breathability and resistance to rubbing, external agents and ultraviolet rays. In addition it’s also washable.
