Made using traditional ceramic manufacture techniques, Spanish designers alien and monkey have created a cube-shaped lamp design made from sand.

alien and monkey have used one of earth's most abundant natural resources, sand, to create a series of biodegradable lamps.

Developed by the designers, the new sand-based material is baked in a kiln and can be used for a long period of time before eventually crumbling back into sand at the end of its lifecycle. The Sand Light is  a versatile design that can be hung as a pendant lamp, stacked in multiples or rested on a surface and used as a table lamp.
