100% Design: Bunky beds by Marc Newson for Magis
Launched in 2011 at the annual Salone del Mobile in Milan, the Bunky beds by Marc Newson for Italian brand Magis, were exhibited for the first time in the UK last week at 100% Design. As of this year, the design is now officially in production and available to order.
Appearing like a colorful cartoon, Bunky is the kind of bed that you dreamed of having as a kid.
The modular Bunky Beds were designed by Australian designer Newson for Magis’ kids’ furniture range, Me Too. Made form rotational-molded polyethylene, the design consists of four components available in graduated hues of orange or blue. For the more independently-minded kids, the design can also be used as a single bed. Perforations under the mattress allow for ventilation and the smooth polyethylene finish is easy to clean. Newson has ensured that the design has no sharp edges making Bunky the perfect choice for energetic kids who like to climb.
