Lamp Inspired by Marine Biology: Coral Reef Floor Lamp by QisDesign
What do you get when you design a lamp in collaboration with Taiwan’s National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium? Besides a unique and interactive LED floor lamp, you get a lamp that comes with a story. The Coral Reef Floor Lamp, designed by QisDesign with a little help from the scientific minds at the aquarium, is meant to mimic the freeform shapes of a coral reef and "to capture the whimsical feel of light reflecting in the underwater world."

Floor Lamp with Three Swivellable Parts
Constructed of aluminum alloy, aluminum die casting, and polycarbonate, the Coral Reef Floor Lamp features LED lights in a Sandy Beach Metallic color. The warm light echoes the way sunlight throws its shadows on organic coral formations. Coral Reef Floor Lamp has three swivellable layers that move independently, resembling the play of shifting reflections of light being filtered through water and "symbolizing the dynamic and ever-changing essence of nature."
Because the LED lights are small and have a low temperature (20W maximum), the three levels let users shift the light to create their own ambience. Serene like a calm sea yet dynamic like coral in motion, the Coral Reef Floor Lamp embodies the mysterious and contradictory elements of the ocean.
