Using catchy headings for their different collection categories – like “Inspiring Meeting”, “Inspiring Office”, and “Inspiring School”, to name a few – they have left out a category whose description can only be described through images. The Koop chair by Karim Rashid is not the newest shape to hit the fashionable world of seating, but it sure serves up a colorful punch.

The Koop Chair by Karim Rashid for Martela Takes the Egg-like Chair to New Levels of Comfort and Design

"Co-operation with Karim Rashid is a natural continuation on the journey towards more inspiring spaces. Working with one of worlds best known designer has been a logical step for Martela's strategy, and is taking us closer to our vision,” says Design Director, Petteri Kolinen, of Martela. It is designed to be more comfortable than its predecessors with an ergonomic backrest that is not submissive to slumping spinal columns to the interior egg-ish angle.

"I wanted the Koop chair to create an organic womb-like space. The soft shaped structure produced creates cradles you in a sense of serenity, privacy and peace. The pure egg-like chair presents purity, perfection, minimalism, and holism," says Karim Rashid. Equipped with a pink ribbed cushioning, the solid blue shell is an inviting chair for any creative office space or household living or bedroom area.
