Sava Cvek and Stylex Present Come Together Contract Seating
On a day in which Apple announced they’ll finally offer the great Beatles hits at their iTunes store, it’s fitting that we’re profiling a product named for one such song. Now, I was never certain what the metaphorical connotations of that particular melody may have been (though I have my theories of course), but I do know that Sava Cvek’s “Come Together” aims for a more subtle kind of union. The collection for manufacturer Stylex consists of the comfortable, portable, and environmentally-friendly duo of “work lounge” and ottoman, a new brand of “dynamic seating for ‘any time, any place’ independent and collaborative activities, with upholstery and component options that adapt to personal and task specifics.”
Come Together. Designed by Sava Cvek for Stylex.
Recycled Steel and a Mesh Back = Low Environmental Load
Come Together is wise to the demands of our warming planet and our evolving workplace. Both seat and ottoman work against the contract trend of bulky foam and heavy upholstery. The principal components include recycled stainless steel, recycled polycarbonate mesh, molded plywood, and a VOC-free powder coat paint (upholstery is optional, and Stylex’s thin foam inserts maintain the slim profile). In conceiving of the design, Cvek’s objective was to create contract seating that required fewer resources, and could also be easily disassembled and re-integrated back into the resource pool. Come Together achieves this admirable goal while meeting the aesthetic demands of its target demographic—“it offers a unique set of environmental benefits, while addressing the current need for people to work in a more casual setting. It appeals to mobile, tech-savvy individuals eager to work anywhere except a conventional office.”
Options for Come Together include a mesh seat back or foam-filled upholstery in textile or leather; companion ottoman in two sizes; and padded and movable tablet arms.
