In April 2010, Belgian designer Bram Boo co-produced a show with Z33 to launch his furniture line at Salone in Milan in the Unday Gallery of the Ventura Lambrate Zone. Just a short while later, the board of the international Design Bienalle, Interieur Kortrijk, the editorial team at Weekend Knack and Le Vif Weekend, the Design Museum Gent, and the team of Grand-Homo Images present the young Boo with the Title Designer of the Year award for 2010.

Although he has not been around as long as many of his fellow exhibitors, Boo is no stranger to the field. With the inspirational Bram Bogart as a father, who paved the way as a Belgian-Dutch contemporary artist, some might say he had creativity running through his bones since his methods were learned independent of conventional schooling.

One of his latest lines he calls “Still Life”. It includes a desk with what appear to be a computer and keyboard on top of it that are actually used as purely storage for files and pens or pencils, respectively.

The next line he showcased that was also at Milan this year, but actually began back in 2007, was his “Overdose Collection”. Included in the assortment of furnishings was the “Overdose cupboard”. Toppling over in movement but sound in plentiful storage space and strength, it’s an active piece that serves as a functional piece of office furniture.

Lastly, “Barbasso” is a trio of coffee tables that forms its own collection. The three tables each incorporate two tabletops layered on top of one another and a set of asymmetrical legs that brace them low to the ground. The unique combination of structural ingenuity and simple aesthetics have gained the Barbasso battalion momentum enough to sign with the Belgian company Indera to launch as part of their overall collection.
