Rabbits by Neebin Studios
Indigenous people incorporate animals in their beliefs and myths. The rabbit symbolizes a great spirit. Called by different names, this great spirit was self-sacrificing, a great teacher of sacred ritual, bringer of light and fire, and in some cases, identified with the Creator force itself.
Neebin has created an entire series of Rabbits, which are not stuffed animals for children. They are works of art, their long ears clothed in different beads, suggesting the traditional headdresses worn by many tribes.
The rabbits are made of different materials, including leather and suede. Some rabbits come in pairs, including Cyborg Bunny and Leather Bunny.
Neebin is a member of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation—Toronto-born, USA-raised, now living in Santa Fe, NM. They are a graphic designer, writer, editor, artist, photographer, and thinker who is an advocate for the art of Indigenous people. They founded Neebin Studios in 2012, and their work incorporates traditional symbols with modern themes.
