Kamelia Goes Its Own Way
The Kamelia print from Marimekko bucks tradition. This abstract print combines organic shapes in a mesmerizing layered rhythm, dancing to the beat of its own drum.
This fashion print comes in two variations. One is wine red, pink, and yellow. The yellow hinges on a muted chartreuse.
The other Kamelia print variation is light rose, brown, and grey.
Artist Fujiwo Ishimoto created the abstract Kamelia print for Marimekko in the 1990s.
He created countless hits for Marimekko over a period of forty years. He retired in 2006.
Kamelia is featured in a number of Marimekko fashions, including the Liki Kamelia, a slim and straight fit dress, and Veduta Kemalie, a wool turtleneck shirt.
The Kamelia pattern is also featured in the Kasavaa Socks.
