In a refreshing twist, “transparency” comes back to earth with the Swedish company Transparent.

Showing this week at Maison & Objet, the Transparent Speaker is literally so. Its dual drivers, woofer, amplifiers, and cable are elegantly on display in a compelling and compact box.

No plastic embellishment or faux wooden molding needed here. Aluminum and tempered glass do just fine to showcase the external beauty of these typically internal components.

The Transparent Speaker is a 10 liter acoustic volume that weighs 11 kg. It ships in a nifty box complete with white cotton gloves for blemish-free set up.

The digital sound processor is highly tuned for a “detailed reproduction of complex low-ends of modern music.” Simplified controls include an on/off switch, volume, treble, and bass.
