Florals and More with HHH by Starck and Kartell
“Her Majesty the Chair.”
That’s how Kartell describes HHH. Designed by His Majesty Phillip Starck, HHH stands for “Her Highest Highness.” Starck himself sums up the chair’s execution and intent: “Usually, the human makes the seat, but with H.H.H., it’s the seat that makes the woman or the man… The majestic elegance of H.H.H. obliges us to strike a pose, and without a pose, what would we be?
The resulting chair is both simplistic and refined, an innovative piece made of Kartell’s Polycarbonate 2.0 that offers a streamlined profile and refuses to abide slovenliness.
Starck expands: “In this chair, you cannot be like this (mimes slouching), but you must be like this (adopting an elegant straight-backed posture). See below for the full clip.
The royal aspect of HHH extends to Kartell’s collaboration with famed British textile brand Liberty: The Kartell x Liberty edition features six Liberty patterns, exclusively designed for Kartell and HHH.
If you have the gnawing sense that you’ve seen these before it may be more than Deja Vu. The designs are based on bespoke and archival Liberty prints from Liberty’s “Tree of Life” artwork from the 90s and the brand’s “Artemis” hand-painted florals from the 1930’s.
For those of you who prefer a solid palette, HHH is at your disposal in multiple additonal incarnations: recycled leather with green tanning treatment in black and tan; eco-friendly texture sourced partly from recycled material and renewable sources in black and tobacco; and in super glossy finish in white, black, burgundy, rust, mustard, blue, grey, and green. Legs are available in both complementary and contrasting colors.
