GRID Mirror by Sylvain Willenz Shop
Belgian designer Sylvain Willenz collaborates with some notable clients in the design world, including Muuto and Sancal. His GRID Mirror “recalls a pure and classic pattern inspired by Art Deco times, with a contemporary simplicity.” It also pays tribute to the evolution of graphic design, a field that popularized the grid as an organizational tool.
GRID Mirror comes in black or gold with the lines painted on the back side of the glass. While most of the large rectangular mirror is a basic grid, the bottom third breaks up the grid with narrow sections oriented horizontally and vertically.
When reflected in the GRID Mirror, objects become inherently artistic because they are framed beautifully. Anything from house plants to bookshelves look perfectly arranged in the composition.
Sylvain Willenz sets the tone for this week’s exploration of the grid in furniture and product design. It’s hip to be square. If you like graphic lines, you might also enjoy Grid Faucet by Kallista.
