The groove is the thing with Patrick Norguet’s Heritage 50 Washbasin for Inbani.

Exhibiting next week at Salone del Mobile.Milano, Heritage 50 is the latest iteration in Inbani’s Heritage collection, a grouping of washbasins and bathroom furniture with a formidable, monolithic presence.

Like all washbasins in the collection, this one takes a cue from classical Greek Architecture: “recreating the elegance of Greek columns through the presence of vertical grooves that give the object rhythm and vibration.”

Indeed, Heritage 50 manages the nifty trick of embodying stillness/solidity and movement at once, its monolithic nature nicely juxtaposed with the deep grooves, whose vertical orientation suggests a palpable rising effect.

The showstopper here is the solid surface basin, but Heritage 50 also features an understated support shelf for some nice separation off the ground.
