Who knew there was a warrior goddess of Britian?

Well there was, though it takes us back to around 60 AD and a tribal people’s resistance against the Roman Occupation. Her name was Andastra.

House of Hackney’s latest fabric is named for this intrepid figure, who some believe not only had formidable battle skills but also the power of divination.

The beautiful hand-painted Damask (Andastra Amazonite) pays tribute. And there’s further history still: the pattern was found in the archives of the Gainsborough silk-weaving house; they even located the original draftsman’s grids, which were used to plot the design onto the loom.

Andastra Amazonite is an exuberant print with a floral motif: pistils, stamens, branches, and buds birth forth in a cornucopia of color and movement.

Andastra Amazonite is printed on luxurious velvet. It’s ideal for linens, furniture upholstery, and curtains. Other iterations include the complementary color scheme of Andastra Almandine.
