Exciting Re-Issue of Mogens Lassen’s Classic Saxe Chair
Exclusively from Kontrast [Danish Curated Design] comes this unique re-issue of Mogens Lassen's classic Saxe Chair (1955).
I must admit that I experienced a shade of hesitation at the revelation of the sealskin seat and back, but in fact this is no different than any product of cowhide.
It's better in fact, since all skins are sourced from Greenland, home of an indigenous seal-hunting culture in which all animals are wild caught. Further, the seals are utilized tip to tail-"a sustainable tradition, in which nothing from the animal is wasted."
The sealskin is indeed stunning. Paired with Lassen's original oak wood folding design, it makes a distinct aesthetic statement in upscale hospitality venues or residential settings.
Of course, every one of the limited edition 100 pieces is one-of-a-kind.
The original Saxe Chair with leather upholstery is available as well.
