New Danish Kitchen Brand Reform Hacks Ikea Designs
Launched at last week’s edition of Northmodern in Copenhagen, Reform is a new kitchen brand who work with architects and designers to create bespoke panel doors and tabletops for Ikea kitchen units.
New Danish brand Reform provides an affordable way to create a one-of-a-kind designer kitchen
"The kitchen is one of the most important rooms in our home. But Interestingly, it is often overlooked when it comes to design,” says Jeppe Christensen, co-founder and CEO of Reform. “For the most part our kitchens are white and as neutral as possible. We want to change this. Our goal is to give everybody the opportunity to experience extraordinary design at affordable prices. That’s why we are so happy to be able to present these new design collaborations"
The brand’s debut collection includes designs by Norm architects, Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Henning Larsen.
Designed in house, the Basis 01 (above) and Basis 02 designs are inspired by Scandinavian kitchens from the ’60s.
Featuring handles made from the same material used to make car seat belts, BIG’s kitchen (above and below) is available in white oak with a composite table top and composite wash.
Or, for a more industrial look, the composite can be substituted for rust free steel.
Inspired by a classic carpentry-kitchen with custom made elements, Henning Larsen Architects’ Reform-kitchen (above and below) is available in two editions: oak veneer with a band of copper, or spray painted white or black lacquer with a subtle steel band in the same color.
The different bands indicate where you should press the kitchen doors to open them, while also protecting the surface from the wear and tear of everyday use.
Finally Norm Architects’ kitchen (above) features a seamless concrete worksurface that wraps around the ends of the handle-less units, which are available in an array of textural, dark finishes such as bronzed tombac, sawn oak or smoked oak.
