Highlights from ICFF 2015
We reflect on some of the best exhibitors and most interesting new designs to emerge from last week’s ICFF in New York.
Wallpaper brand Calico introduced its Brass Cloth collection (pictured above)- a playful take on a timeless interior wall-covering known as grass-cloth. The Brooklyn-based studio have reimagined the classic design and come up with something altogether different, rich in metallics and iridescent style.
Showcased alongside it were Aurora (pictured above left), Inverted Spaces – a collaboration with Dutch studio BCXSY (pictured above right) and Willow (pictured top).
Leading the pack in terms of lighting design, young Glen Cove-based design studio Allied Maker showcased its extensive collection of elegantly simple metal and wood pendants, sconces and floor lamps.
Set against a black back drop, the pieces included a new collection of spun brass designs.
Chicago brand Fferone Design displayed a minimalist wall-mounted mirror with a detachable shelf that caught our eye…
…as well as this angled black-stained wood bench with contrasting white grain.
3Rings favorite, Studio Grain, introduced a new flat weave rug featuring a grid of non-repeating geometric shapes woven using five colors of wool. Called ‘Zacapa’, the rug is handwoven by artisan weavers in the Western Highlands of Guatemala using locally sourced and dyed wool.
Also new was the Circlet Chair, a design that combines a steam bent frame with an eight step hand applied finish and a seat made from the highest quality vegetable tanned leather.
Samuel Amoia impressed with a collection of furniture originally designed for his Itz’Ana hotel project in Belize.
The collection of hand-carved stools, tables, lamps and screens are made by artisans in Belize and boast a washed-out color palette inspired by the local architecture and beachside scenery.
