Salone 2025: Delicate Dome
There seems to be a surplus of lighting designs at Salone del Mobile/Euroluce.

Accompanying the inscrutable illuminated manuscripts of Es Devlin and the formalistic fantasia of Moooi, here’s the more constrained yet equally compelling Curuba for OLEV.

Designed by Andrea Lanaro (who also happens to be company CEO), Curuba is named after and inspired by the Banana passion plant, a fruiting phenom whose smooth exterior hides a rare delicacy.

Curuba reflects this dual nature with two LEDs: the first directs light upward to gently diffuse it through the glass, while the second offers a powerful downward beam: “The glass itself, with its various colors and tones, gently softens the light.”

Designer Lanaro has always been fascinated by LEDs, making it a mission to harness technical attributes with venerated Murano glass blowing techniques. The result is lighting “capable of imitating sunlight and varying intensity depending on the hours of the day…in short, lamps that, in addition to being beautiful, also generate wellbeing for humans.”

Iterations of Curuba include the original Curuba pendant, the bilateral Curuba Combo, and the flush-mounted Curuba PL. Diffuser is available in both smooth and faceted Balloton finish.
