I’ll Huff and I’ll puff…

And I’ll light up your life… So goes the fairy tale take on Arthur Arbesser’s exhilarating Huf Lamp, featured at Servomuto‘s booth at Salone del Mobile, 25 Via Olona.

A jaunty fella with a distinctive half-stadium silhouette, Huf (German for “horse hoof”) not only provides welcome illumination to intimate environs, but also evokes sound and movement. In the arrangement above, you can just about hear the distinctive tapping of a genteel descending steed.

Arbesser is definitely having a bit of a lark here. Huf, he says, embodies a child-like curiosity and naive worldview, “it’s an unpretentious lamp with a simple, effortless charm that breaks away from industrial conventions.”

The large shade (a formal mirroring of the concrete base) also offers a comparatively large palette for adornment, giving Arbesser free reign for decorative flourish. His love of fashion inhabits the space in the form of patterned variations of his signature prints.

Huf is also available in monochromatic tones: mauve, orange, butter white, and light blue.
