Beachfront ZZZs with Zig Zag Zurich
Ideal for this week’s Miami theme, Zig, Zag, Zurich’s new collection of blankets and towels offers yet another reason to soak in the sun and the sea.

Even if bikinis aren’t your thing, ZZZ’s towels and blankets will still make you stand out among the crowds—at Miami beach and destinations beyond. The collection features seven original prints by seven equally original artists: “bold patterns and playful compositions perfect for the beach, pool, or wherever you go when the sun shines.”

From London-based illustrator Raphael Greaves, “Cosmic Man” features an inscrutable, harlequin-esque figure who seems to be weighing the very existence of the spheres. In fact, the image is an homage to Mughal hunting scenes, a popular motif in early Indian art.

Next, Florian Schommer’s “El Pescado” evokes the Old Man and the Sea. Schommer created the piece while observing the elusive patterns of flighty fish from a bay-side vantage. The resultant piece is familiar without becoming kitschy, evoking Art Deco posters as well as a Art Nouveau-era nature sketches.

Lastly, “Straw” from Leonie Bos, channels the spirits of Warhol and Duchamp with this elevation of the most mundane of objects into a tantalizing display of color and texture.

The rest of the art continues the theme of creative colors and enigmatic subjects, including a dog obscured by an iconic chair (Zoé Coulon’s “Hiding”), an amorphous eyeball (Alice Lourador’s “Pupil”), an abstract take on breakfast (Lea Krebs’ “Sunny Side Up”), and Federico Angi’s geometric tour de force, “Shake Your Move.”

The towels can be the basic element for your beach setting. Pick out a bathing suit that matches some of the towel’s colors; choose a beach umbrella whose palette picks up the most dominant color in the towel and you’ve created your own little room at the beach. And a comfy room at that—these mini blankets and towels are made of fine Egyptian cotton and Oeko-Tex-certified materials: “soft, durable, environmentally friendly, and easy to care for.”
