In the Heart of the Mountain

In the Heart of the Mountain

Way off in the Salzburg region of Austria, the Priesteregg Premium Eco Resort sits “between heaven and earth.” The resort consists of 18 luxury chalets and alpine villas. Between spa treatments, fine dining, and other experiences of bliss, guests take in majestic views of the Steinberg mountains and the tranquil powdered forests below.

The Priesteregg Premium Eco Resort features chandeliers from Italian design company Catellani & Smith. These luminaires blend seamlessly into the resort’s interiors (and exteriors), “creating a fluid dialogue between design and nature.”

Fil de Fer at Priesteregg

Fil de Fer is an outdoor chandelier on the sun terrace overlooking the Leogang Valley. The woven aluminum wire is in the shape of a ball. This pendant has tiny bulbs nestled inside. The effect is a soft, soothing glow.

Priesteregg

Fil de Fer was conceived almost 20 years ago. Enzo Catellani believed it was something enchanting, so he kept working. Today Fil de Fer is one of the most recognizable designs within the Catellani & Smith collection.

Gold Moon Chandelier might be my favorite, proof that gold doesn’t always exist at the end of the rainbow—but right at the top of a mountain!

These irregular-shaped discs are covered in gold leaf and suspended from slender cables.

The cluster ends with beautiful copper curls embedded with tiny, powerful LEDs.

More gives a wonderful icy effect as a pendant, perfect for the alpine region it graces.

A cluster of Mores

Even though More looks like ice, this light won’t melt in your hand. Quite the opposite, in fact. More is made of glass and shaped by hand before it cools. Imagine pressing form into a lamp that’s yet unlit.

More

Nuvola is an elongated version of Fil de Fer.

Nuvola

This aluminum chandelier is wonderfully sophisticated despite its unkempt shape.

Nuvola is also available in an anodized gold version that warms and brightens environments. This version is not on display at Priesteregg.
