Red in the Round
Does a red shamrock count for Valentine’s Day?

Nothwithstanding the ostensible confusion among consumerist holidays, we’re including Giuseppi Raimondi and Ugo Nespolo’s memorable Margherita for Gufram. And because we prefer romantic intimacy to drinking green beer, we’re showing it mostly in red. But here’s one for the St. Patrick’s Day aficionados.

Debuting in 1966, Margherita endures for its retro/space-age vibe and its clever use of space. Each “petal” offers a nicely compartmentalized nook.

It might make for cozy dining for six, but nothing elicits good conversation like bumping elbows.
Margherita is made of vinyl over wood and steel. Authentic versions are hard to find. It last sold at auction in 2006, so for the moment it will have to remain eye candy, which is better for your teeth anyway.
