Oil Slick by Weird and Wonderful Ceramics
UK-based company Weird and Wonderful Ceramics is unapologetic about its macabre aesthetic. Their designs include bats, caskets, ghosts, and snakes. People who like black with a touch of glitter will enjoy drinking their morning coffee (or potion) from Oil Slick mugs.

From little espresso cups to large cappuccino vessels, the Oil Slick series offers something for everyone. Mugs are a difficult object to design well, given that people’s hands are different sizes. Besides the tricky handle, ceramicists must also contend with the diameter of the opening and the thickness of the sides.

But Weird and Wonderful Ceramics faces the mug challenge with options, including the Bulgy Mug, which is like a miniature cauldron with a handle. It seems perfect for poison (or absinthe). Personally, I like the dimensions and shape of Stumpy Mug.

No two mugs are alike because the Oil Slick collection comes from a one-person operation: “Each mug is lovingly hand painted, glazed and fired by myself in my home workshop,” says founder Elisha Morton.
