For people who like simplicity, there is much to admire in World. Designed by Niels Diffrient for Humanscale, this task chair offers a world of comfort—without an unruly federation of nobs and levers.

World achieves simplicity thanks to two patented inventions: a gravity mechanism and Form Sensing Mesh. The first “uses physics and the sitter’s own body weight to provide optimized and automatic support.” The second “takes on the exact shape of the sitter’s back, as if it were made for them.”

World Upholstered combines the Form Sensing Mesh, which is inspired by clothing design, with an upholstered seat. This adds a pop of color to a world-class task chair. In honor of Valentine’s Day, we are featuring World Upholstered in reds and pinks.

The frame comes in White, Black, and Gray. Mesh comes in stripes, solids, and patterns, as well as in multiple hues. The upholstered seat is available in woven, knit, leather, and coated fabrics—in too many colors to count.
