glimmer (v): to appear indistinctly with a faintly luminous quality; twinkle, shimmer or flicker

A glimmer catches the eye. Even though it’s indistinct by nature, its intermittent effect create a sense of quiet glory. Apollo by Rove Concepts is a prayerful glimmer of a bookshelf, worthy of a second (and third) look.

To me, this bookshelf seems instrumental. And I mean that literally: like an instrument. One might be able to pluck a “string” and have it make a sound. Or, bounce a violin bow off the strings and surely heavenly notes will echo out into the air?

On first glance, the harp-like string railing appears continuous. Instead, there’s an intriguing break two shelves down, perfect for displaying fiction, blooming succulents, photographs, and/or sculptural objects. The rounded edges paired with right angles is a sophisticated fusion of Bauhaus-inspired design.

This bookcase offers real wood shelves in a black oak veneer. The metal frame is champagne-colored iron steel. As Rove details, “The Apollo bookshelf offers a timeless, architectural presence”—just like its Olympian namesake, Apollo towers.

Apollo stands a little over 6’ tall, making it a stately piece of furniture in and of itself, but equally useful as a room divider or way to segment an open concept space.
