Maison&Objet 2025: Not So Imperfetto

Maison&Objet 2025: Not So Imperfetto

Technically seating but really an expressionistic sculpture that recalls the thrones of Kings or of Gods, Verter Turroni’s Vara is exactly the kind of gesture that characterizes M&O.

Vara with no flair, single seat

Perfectly positioned at the intersection of art and design, Vara is from Imperfetto Lab, a studio that aspires at “a perfect balance between nature and artifice.”

Here, the artifice resides in the fiberglass cylinders that constitute the base, a convincing approximation of solid stone. The curved seat itself is laminated wood—sanded, painted, and polished by hand to achieve that illusory imperfection that’s more perfect than anything machine-made.

At Maison&Objet, Imperfetto lab also showed Aspis, a bold and beautiful bookcase with an elliptical aspect that evokes celestial bodies; and Equillibrium, a low table that plays with the viewer’s sense of balance depending on his/her perspective.
