Maison&Objet 2025: Carpenter Diem with Kasaïs
Sinop Bookcase combines everything I like best: hidden storage, open shelving, and peek-a-boo storage (more on that later). As a new exhibitor at Maison&Objet, Kasaïs has already caught people’s attention with its beautiful carpentry and streamlined designs. The Sinop Collection combines a light metal structure with solid wood shelving. Sinop also marries straight lines with elegant curves.

Sinop Bookcase
Let’s start with this bookcase by Kasaïs. I love a bookcase that actually takes into account how people work. Obviously, it should have open shelving to show off beautiful and beloved books. Check.

But a well-designed bookcase should also provide hidden storage for all those necessary work-related items that don’t deserve to be displayed (printers, pencil sharpeners, and all the random tools of your trade). This model includes available solid sliding panels. Check. If it’s a bookcase after my own heart, then it also needs peek-a-boo storage, which should be translucent enough to provide a blurry glimpse of contents while still hiding less-than-ideal organization. Check. Sinop Bookcase ticks all the boxes.

Sinop Table
This gorgeous table shows off the beauty of wood and the carpentry skills of Kasaïs’ team. The softly curved top and sinuous legs work together to create a blend of harmonious lines and negative space. Constructed of oak, Sinop Table comes with lovely matte finishes in black, white, and natural wood.

Sinop Desk
Brand new from the company is a clever little desk that offers the best of both worlds—big storage in a small footprint. With lithe metal legs and a pleated column with a pencil drawer and storage, Sinop Desk manages to secret away all those papers that keep accumulating, keeping your work surface clean.

All the pieces in the Sinop Collection offer well-designed forms and thoughtful details. This combination of practicality and aesthetics stems from the two people at the head of the company: a father who is a graphic designer and a son who is an architect. If their furniture reflects their relationship, then I’d like to apply to be a member of this family!
