Heart of Gold: Cuore Collection by Gaspare Asaro
Gaspare Asaro, an Italian family-run design studio, specializes in lighting and furniture that blends innovative design with traditional craftsmanship. Lighting fixtures may be one of the last items people focus on when decorating (as some work upwards from flooring to furniture and walls). But light fixtures determine how your home is viewed.
Gaspare Asaro’s new collection of lighting is called Cuore, which means “heart” in Italian. The fixtures in this grouping all feature expressionistic hearts. Hearts speak aloud to us whenever we see them. They symbolize love, warmth, welcome, unabashed honesty—and the fixtures in Cuore evoke these emotions.
These new fixtures are “organically styled abstract heartshaped shades sprouting out of linear frames … The shade diffusers feature choices of Alabaster for a natural look, classic frosted glass for a more classic option, or metal with a backlit open perimeter for a more modern look.”
My personal favorite in the collection is Cuore N. 6, a serpentine fixture with six hearts. It curves around the ceiling like a necklace adorning the neck of a lovely lady, spreading its soft light across the room.
Cuore Collection includes ceiling and wall lights, available in ten finishes and eight enamel colors. The patinas cover brass or copper in semi-gloss or matte finishes. If these options don’t exactly fit your space, the lights can also be customized.
Gaspare Asaro is rooted in the Italian tradition, using Italian materials such as Murano glass and alabaster. The company also has a mid-century high-end Vintage Vault, featured in its New York City showroom.
Panton’s Heart Cone Chair is another cuore wonder.
