Chief Hélà ANTA KAI1 by Kyrie Irving x ANTA
Meet the Chief Hélà ANTA KAI1, a sneaker/moccasin hybrid honoring the Lakota heritage of NBA star Kyrie Irving.
Part of the Kyrie Irving x ANTA collaboration, the Chief Hélà version of the ANTA KAI1 pays tribute to Irving’s Native American heritage in its bold design. Named after Irving’s Lakota name meaning “Little Mountain,” the sneaker combines a brown suede upper with a golden outsole.
Besides the shoes’ earthy colors, Chief Hélà features embroidery on the collar that “celebrates his [Irving] fearless warrior spirit, leading both on and off the court.”
But the key feature here are the sneaker’s fringes. On traditional moccasins, fringes are both decorative and culturally symbolic. On the ANTA sneaker, this detail redefines the fashion profile of a traditional court shoe.
ANTA is a sportswear brand pushing the limits of design while producing high-performance footwear. Its partnership with NBA player Kyrie Irving will surely turn heads—and create demand for sneakerheads around the globe.
3rings doesn’t write about shoes often, but when we do, they are definitely design objects. See our post on the Global Footwear Awards.
