Blanca Dining Chair by Lema
Roberto Lazzeroni’s Blanca Dining for Lema is a welcoming swoop of a chair that resembles an upright snow angel, wings parted in an enveloping embrace.
Boasting a simple execution that manifests in a compelling aesthetic, the chair is made of four parts: seat, back, and matching side panels that double as principal structure and armrests.
The design is also long on negative space. Gaps below and above the seat create a sense of elegance, of robusticity balanced with grace. As Lema puts it, “the classic structure is visually lightened by a recess that breaks the continuity of the backrest… Blanca’s sides, which become armrests, encircle the seat, which seems almost suspended, like an embrace to maintain a high level of comfort.”
