BDNY 2024: Seashell Grand Wing Chair by Jean-Marie Massaud for Dedon
The Seashell Grand Wing Chair by Jean-Marie Massaud for Dedon has become one of the most popular pieces at BDNY 2024. One of our 3rings writers at the show this year found the Seashell Grand Wing Chair to be especially inviting.
According to her, the chair is not only comfortable, but its side wings insulated her from the noise and activity of the show itself. The Seashell Wing Chair mimics the enclosed safety of a clam. Its occupant can feel open enough to regard surroundings, yet closed in enough to withdraw more into the self.
The Seashell Grand Wing Chair comes in seven fabric types, many of which offer neutral colors that harmonize with nature. Other fabrics—including Mandarine, Pomelo, and Juniper—offer luscious cushions for those who want a pop of color. At approximately 31” high, 28″ long, and 32” wide, Seashell envelopes individuals within its clam shape.
The Seashell range introduces Dedon’s EcoCycle Fiber. “Derived 90% from renewable plant-based resources,” the woven fiber is an eco-friendly alternative to conventional, fossil-fuel-based materials.
The Dedon line of outdoor furniture invites serenity and contemplation. The woven nature of the structures provides an airy and light feeling that harmonizes with nature. Additionally, Dedon’s products are lightweight, so they can be rearranged easily. Founded in 1990, Dedon is headquartered in Germany with manufacturing in the Philippines.
