BDNY 2024: HOP Washbasin by Simas
Not only does Italian brand Simas offer bathroom products in many beautiful colors, but the company also thinks about the intersectionality of form and function. At BDNY 2024, as part of the Ceramics of Italy exhibit, Simas showcased the new HOP washbasin—”a real jump into design!”
HOP features a two-part basin, each level with a different depth. The shallow part of the sink creates “a container slot and a functional base, ideal for toiletry items, protected by an edge, intentionally high and not too thin.”
Based on a parallelepiped, HOP combines an outer belt with straight walls and an interior with curved surfaces that offers more room “thanks to a greater radius,” explains Simas. The three sizes available in the HOP collection can be wall-hung or freestanding on a shelf or frame.
From afar, HOP delivers a modern, streamlined washbasin for bathrooms of all sizes. Up close, the shallow section of the basin creates additional counterspace where objects can’t slide off.
And HOP might be the perfect vessel for Simas’ bold colors. Satin finishes include Matt Antracite, White, Black, Canvas, Cement, Myrtle, Moka, Plum, Sand, Periwinkle, and Navy. Glossy options are equally exciting: White, Black, Caramel, Capri, Mint, Narcissus, Ruby, and Graphite.
