Maison & Objet 2024: Candleholders by Reflections Copenhagen
A series of candleholders by Reflections Copenhagen is but one of the many eclectic discoveries at Maison & Objet. A sculptural group of five distinct objects, the crystal candleholders bring color, form, and function to any candlelit dinner.
Aya Candleholder is a colorful stack of gemlike geometries—a precious totem of faceted jewels. With emerald, sapphire, onyx, and amber hues, Aya presents the candle’s flame as if it’s a bit of magic.
An homage to Art Deco and its streamlined skyscrapers, the Brooklyn Candleholder presents “layered side wings” on a faceted base. The graduated lines remind me of the Chrysler Building’s spire.
Set eyes on Carmina Candleholder and you just might hear a fanfare. The design is its own drumroll. Reflections calls the central shapes “opal butterfly wings,” but I think they look like the fanned edges of candy wrappers.
The India Candleholder looks back at you, its centerpiece a white eye with a pink pupil. A sky blue and orange ball gives it a carnivalesque flair, and its ruby red base stands out like a tutu.
Last but certainly not least, the Laguna Candleholder puts me in mind of an exotic fish. Aqua fins propel its pink body and a black top hat proves he’s a dapper of the deep.
