Keep an Eye Out for Iconic Posters of Paris
Ugo Gattoni, the creator of The Celebration Edition of the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paris Paralympics explains how his Celebration poster came about: “Around Christmas time in 2023, as I was still working on the Paris 2024 Iconic Posters, I unintentionally reversed the colours of the drawing, and that created a nocturnal atmosphere with a tinge of neon. Inspired by this handling mistake, I started creating a new version of the Poster, changing each colour one by one, thus revealing some unexpected secrets of the drawing and paying homage to the beauty of Parisian nights.”
This Celebration Edition of the 2024 Paris Olympics celebrates the joy and beauty of Paris nights. Its fluorescent colors and rendering of the Parisian environment at night has the quality of a fairy tale, a city of light and mystery. Whether being in Paris for the games or watching them through all the available media of the event, is like participating in that fairy tale as athletes float down the Seine while dancers, musicians, and vocalists add splendor to the night along with Paris’ iconic buildings and monuments.
Complementing the Celebration Edition, the Stadium City: “Games Wide Open,” official poster of Paris 2024 depicts the very same Paris by day (pictured above). The poster is designed to unify different elements of the games in a grand collective while also making for intelligible segments that stand on their own. Herein we have familiar Paris monuments, symbols of the country, competition venues, and several different sports and key figures.
The Phryges (Olympics’ mascot) looks down on the Track and Field Venue in one segment of the official poster.
“Symbols of the Games.” A close view of the upper-right quadrant: the Olympic rings, the Agitos, Stoke Mandeville, the Olympic motto, and medals.
According to the Paris Olympic Committee “The Iconic Celebration Posters are the dream representation of a stadium city, echoing the Paris 2024 slogan ‘Games wide open’ and referring to the concept of the Paris Games: bringing sport to the heart of the city. In Paris, Marseille, and Tahiti, Paris 2024 invites spectators to take a stroll through an abundant, joyful universe where every detail tells its own story.”
The limited-edition Paris by Night poster, offered initially at $247.00, has already sold out. The official poster may be found on the Paris 2024 online shop, the seven Paris 2024 shops on-site (Lyon, Louvre, Les Halles, La Défense, etc.), and in at the Musée d’Orsay.
