Abacus Screen is a functional and beautiful work “that can be used as an architectural divider or simply a standing sculpture.” Because all Abacus Screens are customized in size and color, they can attract attention or divide spaces—making it a perfect piece for home offices and commercial workspaces. If there were an Abacus Screen (and free coffee), then I might actually be willing to go to the office!

Abacus Screen offers both form and function: it can divide spaces and provide sculptural/textural splendor. In fact, New York-based artist Russell admits that texture is what differentiates his main medium: “Texture is the most visceral element in ceramics. It’s the thing that makes you want to touch. There’s design, color and form, but it’s texture that gives a piece its physical life.”

A 2024 winner of Interior Design’s NYC x DESIGN Award, Abacus Screen offers vertical and horizontal balance: the work is not exactly a grid but maintains geometric appeal. It is also a tactile pleasure—and surely, many people know the importance of taking a break during the work hours to fidget.
