Salone 2024 Preview: Escape with Re/Creation by Lasvit

Who doesn’t love creative escapism? Lasvit—the Czech company known for their glassmaking techniques, lighting, and architectural glass—is presenting Re/Creation at Salone del Mobile 2024 at the Palazzo Isimbardi. Lasvit wanted to offer a fantastical haven where visitors are encouraged to “… do nothing.”

Porta by Lasvit

Amidst the sixteenth-century palace that serves as home to the city of Milan, Re/Creation offers an otherworldly perspective with its outdoor glass installation. This architectural fused glass relies on a glassmaking technique reigned by surrender. Lasvit explains, “Extremely hot
melted glass is gently coaxed to relax, spread, and naturally take the shape of a specially designed form, guided solely by its weight and the subtle pull of gravity.”

Porta is the centerpiece of Re/Creation. Designed by Lasvit’s Art Director Maxim Velčovský, the installation showcases the possibilities of fused glass. Fittingly, Porta would not have been possible with Lasvit’s expertise—the pieces were crafted in Europe’s largest glass kiln.

Lasvit is also presenting Nebula, the company’s first lighting collection designed by studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. In Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold, Nebula includes a ceiling lamp and two table lamps. Created of borosilicate glass with a reflective metal coating, Nebula lighting “draws inspiration from the radiant expanses of space where stars originate.”

Neverending Glory Limited Edition by Jan Plecháč & Henry Wielgus

Neverending Glory limited edition La Scala Gold

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Neverending Glory Collection, Lasvit created a gold version of the La Scala chandelier—in a limited edition of 100 pieces. Originally inspired by the grandeur of famous opera houses, La Scala chandelier features resplendent bands reminiscent of a grand opera house’s multiple levels of ornamental boxes.
