Salone 2024: Oblò by Paola Navone for Lodes
Italian lighting brand Lodes unveils its collaboration with architect Paola Navone—Oblò. A globose pendant light with oceanic references, Oblò means porthole. The pendants are available in three shapes and multiple marine colors.
Oblò is like a cross between a buoy and an egg. Its translucent glass and elliptical form make it appear as if the pendant is floating in water, waiting to give birth to some magical aquatic creature.
Available in iridescent metallic blue, silk white, glossy smoke, and transparent, Oblò captures the lightness of clear water and the penumbra of ocean storms. Paola Navone comments: “Oblò is a delightful family of lamps that touches on the essence of the sea. The glass diffuser, with its soft, rounded shapes, is suspended by a knotted cable, appearing to float in the air like a buoy. There’s a touch of surprise: the knotted cable houses an invisible LED source that illuminates the diffuser. Thus, only the glass is visible, akin to peering through a porthole.”
Alone or in clusters, Oblò harkens back to the effervescent beauty of underwater bubbles. Adjust the rope to hang the aquatic pendant at whatever height the space requires, shallow or deep.
Oblò sparkles with cerulean clarity all throughout Salone del Mobile.Milano. See it at the Lodes’ Brera showroom on via della Moscova 33.
