A fruitful collaboration between Fornasetti and Poltrona Frau comes together at Salone del Mobile. The Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition Armchair is the star attraction—a limited-edition leather armchair with Fornasetti’s Sole e Nuvole patterns.

Only 50 of the Fornasetti x Poltrona Frau armchairs will be manufactured. Each is upholstered in Pelle Frau leather, which is digitally printed with a slight relief effect. The detailed construction process uses seasoned solid beech and is “padded using both hand-modelled vegetable horsehair and rubberized horsehair while the cushion of the seat is made of goose feather, with an expanded polyurethane insert to ensure it maintains its shape over time.” You had me at horse hair!

On the rear and sides, the Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition Armchair gets a touch of ornament with a row of leather-covered nails. The rear of the chair includes a gun-barrel finish plate bearing the Fornasetti x Poltrona Frau® logo and serial number.

This dreamy chair marks the first collaboration between two iconic Italian brands. Based on an illustration created by brand founder Piero Fornasetti in the 1950s and reinterpreted by his son Barnaba Fornasetti, the Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition Armchair pays tribute to celestial bodies.

The sun and moon, both drawn with enchanting faces, are suspended amidst ethereal clouds. Poltrona Frau calls it, “an ode to the power and freedom of imagination.”
