Pink Paris: Liberté Color by Suzanne Kasler for La Cornue

The soft pink Liberté color by interior designer Suzanne Kasler adds a fanciful romanticism to the already dreamy La Cornue kitchen. Part of a Premium Line of colors for La Cornue, Liberté recalls raspberry macarons and rose-flavored tea.

Liberté is a perfect shade for hopeless romantics and pastry chefs. One would imagine that the oven’s aesthetic would magically seep into all the food baked within. Upon eating a Liberté cake, perhaps one would fall into a daydream, turn into a pink rabbit, and hop about with the taste of candy on one’s tongue.

La Cornue Signature Line by Suzanne Kasler virtually replicates the soft pastels of antique fine china and petit fours’ icing. Besides sweet Liberté, Kasler’s colors include Pasture, an intoxicating celadon green, and Roquefort, a darling light blue.

Although Liberté recalls the pretty petals of Parisian florists, it is nevertheless a La Cornue oven—the world’s first convection oven. As the story goes, “To enable optimum precision, the oven drew upon the city gas lines that were winding their way to homes and street lamps throughout the City of Light.” Liberté may just be the incarnation of gay Paris.
