Tracy Glover’s latest handblown glass fixture takes inspiration from the traditional Hundi pendant.

These ceiling fixtures were manufactured in Europe and shipped to India where they adorned palaces and other upscale homes. The glass shade was designed to contain soot emitted from the candles burning therein.

Glover’s rendition captures the look of the antique glass, which, just like old leaded windows, retained the air-bubble imperfections or “seeds” which were commonplace before modern float glass methods.

It’s a beautiful detail and a nice homage.
