Named for the lovely city of Bern in Switzerland, Nina Mair’s Bernard Seating Collection for LaCividina is compact and clever, not unlike its municipal namesake.

The singular innovation is the L-shaped backrest, which allows users to determine the direction they’re sitting—“freely choosing whether to put themselves in communicative situations or approach a more private resting place.”

Bernard thus becomes a private and public space in one, a very versatile approach that’s right at home in today’s flexible working environments.

Bernard features an upholstered seat and backrest with a powder-coated steel frame. Other pieces in the collection include a lounge chair, daybed, three-seater sofa, and various tables.
