Extinct Animals Wallcovering Collection by Moooi

The new Extinct Animals Wallcovering Collection is the result of a collaboration between Dutch design studio Moooi and Belgian wallcovering manufacturer Arte.

The eleven patterns in the collection explore the various features of extinct creatures—from the beautiful brown stripes of the Quagga to the impossibly curved tail feathers of the Calligraphy Bird.

Menagerie of Extinct Animals is the most whimsical of the patterns. Ten extinct animals are hidden behind verdant foliage within a lush jungle reminiscent of Rousseau. It’s certainly perfect for every explorer’s club and natural history museum, as well as more domestic landscapes (such as my library).

Other wallcoverings in the collection offer splendor in the form of texture. Dwarf Rhino replicates the animal’s armor in a soft suede 3D paper. And Calligraphy Bird presents mesmerizing spirals in a shiny lacquered effect—quite dramatic in Midnight.
