Styx Coat Stand by Matsumoto Architectural Hardware
Kudos to Donna C. Matsumoto, Principal of L.A.-based Matsumoto Architectural Hardware, for being in the biz for 29 years and for championing the cause of woman-owned businesses.
And kudos again for the very stylish and highly functional Styx Coat Stand, an aesthetically arresting and space-saving solution for the problem of coats.
Not that coats are in and of themselves a problem, just that there's often a dearth of places to hang them, especially in high cost-of-living locales like L.A.
Styx is a 68" high agglomeration of sticks-albeit in stainless steel and a utilitarian, if seemingly haphazard, arrangement that resembles a kind of forest origami.
Styx features a brushed finish and a modest footprint of 29.5", synthesizing the equally alluring qualities of good looks and high function. I count no less than 10 "styx," making it a perfect perch for 10 coats, which for a family of five factors out to two coats per-not bad for a smallish, lightweight, and portable coat rack.
