Our journey into Jasper Morrison begins with the very calm and collected Bruno Sofa. This elegant piece for Maruni is made of oak. Befitting its Scandinavian look, Bruno comes with a wide range of upholstery options, including seven Kvadrat fabrics from Denmark and an additional 72 from across the Universe (rather, locales as diverse as Japan, Belgium, Sweden, and Italy). A clear urethane finish completes the minimalist look.

Contrary to Bruno, Morrison's Three Sofa De Luxe for Cappellini is a bit more luxe, or at least extravagant. A poplar plywood and solid fir frame support the whimsical whoop-de-doo-a bold aesthetic choice that gives this piece textural appeal and a distinctive identity.

Continuing with the seating theme, Bench for Vitra is equal parts business elegance and formal innovation. Belying the traditional form of bench seating-and thereby confounding expectations-Bench invites users to re-evaluate their preconceptions and re-visit their own anatomy. Vitra sees Bench as "ideally suited for entrance lobbies and other places where people are glad to find a temporary seat-an unobtrusive and functional object that avoids anonymity."

Further illuminations into Morrison's aesthetic versatility are cast courtesy of the Glo Ball lamp. An entrancing, enchanting luminescent orb, Glo Ball evokes extra-stellar bodies like the stars and the moon. Etched blown glass and a thick steel base complement the lamp's elemental feel.

Superloon is another super-cool Morrison creation for Flos. While Glo Ball looks like the moon entire, Superloon appears to be a tremendous cross-section, as if some celestial scythe cleaved the lunar body in half to shine a hyper-real glow on the object of one's affection. But Superloon is capable of subtlety too. Equipped with a "Dim-to-Warm function," the lamp easily transitions from cold to warm tones and back again-providing modulated light as users see fit.

Moving on, there's the Ink Desk for Molteni & C. van der Rohe would beam over this one. The simple declarative name reinforces the elemental form, for which "concentration is the main requisite." A fold-down door converts into the worktop as the compartment is revealed to be replete with the tools of the trade: drawers, LED lighting, and a specialized space for power and data.

Lastly, the T&O Table for Maruni is a worthy addition to Morrison's no-nonsense oeuvre. This table features a wood veneer top and slim steel base. The salmon-colored highlights are an enticing counter-point to the rich wood top. Also available in black and green.
